Hickenlooper unveils statewide economic development plan

Gov. John Hickenlooper announced July 20, 2011, a statewide work plan to spur Colorado's economy, help businesses grow and attract new jobs to the state. "The Colorado Blueprint: A bottom-up approach to economic development" is the product of an unprecedented effort to engage every county in Colorado on how best to improve the state's economy.

Gov. John Hickenlooper will talk about the "Colorado Blueprint: A bottom-up approach to economic development" during a press conference July 20 in Denver. He will also make stops in Windsor and Fort Morgan later in the day to talk about the statewide economic development work plan.


NASA begins commercial partnership with ULA

NASA and United Launch Alliance (ULA) announced July 18, 2011, an agreement for technical support through NASA's Commercial Crew Program at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida to offer technical information on the Atlas V to support using the rocket to launch astronauts into space.


ULA marks the 50th successful GPS launch

A United Launch Alliance Delta IV rocket carrying the Air Force's Global Positioning System (GPS) IIF-2 payload lifted off from Space Launch Complex-37 here at 2:41 a.m. EDT July 16, 2011. This is the seventh ULA launch this year.


DigitalGlobe achieves third EnhancedView milestone

DigitalGlobe (NYSE: DGI), a leading global provider of high-resolution earth imagery solutions, announced that on June 16 it successfully completed the Critical Design Review (CDR) of infrastructure enhancements at its Colorado headquarters under the terms of the EnhancedView contract. The successful CDR marks the third consecutive EnhancedView contract milestone DigitalGlobe has achieved on schedule. "Fulfilling our commitments to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency is our top priority and at this point we have achieved every milestone on or before the date promised," said Walter Scott, chief technology officer, DigitalGlobe. "We expect our enhanced infrastructure to be operational in 2012, allowing us to be more responsive to NGA needs and satisfy increasingly stringent EnhancedView requirements.  Ultimately, these investments will enable us to provide the best service possible."
