Multi-disciplinary teams integrated to connect critical issues for customers across company's market-leading capabilities

Bringing together the global research and analysis teams across all of its industry, economic and critical capability areas, IHS Inc. (NYSE: IHS), the leading global source of information and analysis, announced on June 23, 2011 the formation of a single, integrated Research and Analysis organization as part of the company's ongoing efforts to ensure that resources are aligned to best meet customer needs and drive sustainable, profitable growth.

"We have an incredible opportunity to integrate a wide variety of skills and capabilities across the company and to deliver unrivalled specialist and inter-disciplinary expertise in the numerous industry segments IHS serves"
Spanning 16 industries and leveraging core decision support tools in energy and power; design and supply chain; defense, risk and security; environmental, health and safety (EHS) and sustainability; country and industry forecasting; and commodities, pricing and cost, the new organization creates an unparalleled global capability to support businesses and governments across the globe in directing strategic, operating and capital decisions. It links more than 1,000 researchers, analysts and economists across key industries including energy, power, chemicals, aerospace, defense, automotive and electronics.

"IHS has deployed more than $1 billion in capital in large part to develop our unique analytical capabilities," said IHS President and Chief Operating Officer Scott Key. "The IHS Research and Analysis organization offers the single greatest breadth and depth of research and analytical capability available anywhere."

Led by IHS executive Atul Arya, who has been named senior vice president of IHS Research and Analysis, this new organization creates the leading independent provider of strategic research to customers around the world. It builds on IHS success in collaboration on products and with customers over the past several years, and will enable future growth and development opportunities as it brings together a number of separate teams across the company into a single Research and Analysis organization.

"We have an incredible opportunity to integrate a wide variety of skills and capabilities across the company and to deliver unrivalled specialist and inter-disciplinary expertise in the numerous industry segments IHS serves," said Arya. "Through the new IHS Research and Analysis organization, we will develop common long-term research agendas and provide our customers with integrated tools, methodologies and analysis to help them address increasingly complex business opportunities and challenges."

The IHS Research and Analysis organization will play a critical role in better defining the sectors in which IHS is the market and thought leader, while introducing a cross-functional approach to research issues. This approach also will ensure the seamless integration of acquired research capabilities into IHS.

"I am very excited about the opportunities the new IHS Research and Analysis organization brings to our company and our customers," added Key. "By combining our expertise into comprehensive, multi-disciplinary insight and actionable customer solutions, we will deliver results unmatched by any other company."
