Career Development Expo to be held September 21, 2010
In celebration of National Workforce Development Month, Denver Workforce Center staff to highlight job search resources and selected industries
To educate job seekers about selected industries and job search services available through the public workforce system, the Denver Workforce Centers will offer a Career Development Expo, September 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building atrium, 201 W. Colfax Ave.
Held in celebration of National Workforce Development Month this September, the event will include a series of presentations on targeted industries including health care, green jobs (construction, manufacturing, energy and skilled trades), professional technical services, and hospitality/retail. Denver Workforce Center staff will also highlight labor market information, occupations analysis in growing fields, certifications, and job search and career development resources offered through the workforce centers.
"Through labor market analysis, we have selected targeted industries that present greater employment opportunities regionally," said Jeff Fitzgerald, acting director of Workforce Development for the Denver Office of Economic Development. "The expo will offer a group of local businesses and workers representing these industries to share what it's like to work in these promising fields."
Offered through the Denver Office of Economic Development, the Denver Workforce Centers serve as a full-service employment and training agency that meets the recruiting and training needs of businesses, job seekers and youth throughout the metro area. Services include access to job search tools and job listings, resume and cover letter assistance, computer training, intensive job search (subsidized employment, on-the-job training, professional internships), employment certification, career assessments, and occupational skills training for eligible residents.
